Surat

On the banks of the Balonne River, Surat is noted for its welcoming parks and top fishing spots. Its position on the Great Inland Way between St George and Roma makes it a great stop for visitors heading north from New South Wales.

Surat's most striking feature is the Cobb & Co. Changing Station, featuring the Window to the Balonne Aquarium and a fascinating insight into the days when Cobb & Co. coaches ruled the roads. Just 2.5km from town are the Corduroys, which were used in wet weather on boggy sections of tracks to enable Cobb & Co coaches to pass through.
