ChinchillaChinchilla is the Melon Capital of Australia! Here, they produce 25% of Australia’s melons. So needless to say, the Chinchilla Melon Festival is a colourful and fun event which attracts people of all ages. (February 2007) Chinchilla is also a fossicker’s delight with the world acclaimed petrified wood ‘Chinchilla Red’. Why not drop a line in the Condamine River or have a BBQ picnic at the Chinchilla weir.Make sure to visit the Chinchilla Historical Museum, where you can see the Prickly pear display and the story of its eradication.
